How to prevent this Chargeback: In order to prevent this type of chargeback from occurring, you must be able to prove that the card in question was present at the time of the authorization request and transaction. The best way to do this is to get an imprint of the card and possibly even the identification of the card holder at the time of the transaction to serve as proof of the validity of the transaction.

How to resolve this Chargeback: In order to resolve this type of chargeback, you must be able to provide supportive documents which show that the card in question was present when the transaction was carried out. If you cannot prove that the card was present at the time of the transaction, you may have to issue a refund to the card holder lodging the dispute.

Tips: If you cannot swipe a certain credit card during a face to face credit card transaction, obtain an imprint instead. This way, if the validity of the transaction is disputed, you still have proof that the transaction was properly authorized even if you could not obtain a proper swipe.
